Leeds United's focus is catching West Brom, not escaping Fulham and chasing pack says chief executive

Leeds United are more focused on West Brom and the Championship top spot than they are the chasing pack at their heels, says Angus Kinnear.

The chief executive says that while all about them are poring over predictions and data projections ahead of the 10-game promotion run-in, United's staff and players are living very much in the present as they take it game-by-game in an attempt to once again rein in leaders West Brom, who sit a point clear.

Leeds go into today's home game against Huddersfield Town on the back of a four-game winning streak and without a goal conceded since 11th February's 1-1 draw at Brentford.

Kinnear, whose programme notes made no mention of Kiko Casilla's eight-game racism ban or the written reasons behind the suspension that emerged earlier this week, says Leeds are looking up, not down.

"In the Elland Road offices, like most workplaces across Leeds, the talk is full of prediction league, supercomputer projections and benchmarking historical promotion points totals," he said.

"However the focus at Thorpe Arch is on nothing more than the next game. The squad and coaching staff have retained their unflinching belief that while we have the quality and resilience to beat any team when playing at our potential.

"Accordingly the team are looking up towards catching West Brom and not down at the chasing pack."
