"I fear we may" - Leeds United fans in disagreement on final game of the season at West Ham

Leeds United’s fans have their say on Sunday’s final game of the season at relegation-battling West Ham.

An already safe Leeds United side visit a West Ham team hugely threatened by relegation in Sunday’s final game of the season - but what do the club’s fans think? Here is what our YEP Jury have had to say including disagreement on the predictions front and a ‘monkey’ now off the team’s backs.

MIKE GILL

For neutrals, a small amount of interest is added to this match by the fact that although they are in intensive care, West Ham United are not quite dead yet.

None of this concerns the Whites, who just want to add to their points tally.

Although the squad is hit by injuries, you can be sure that Daniel Farke’s men will be tackling this game with their usual commitment.

With the exception of the champions and runners up, Brighton were the best side that United have faced this season and although West Ham will be fighting for their lives, in terms of quality, they are no Brighton.

The Hammers find themselves in 18th position because they have not gathered enough points all season.

Even if they were to win this game, they still need Spurs to lose against Everton and this is the essence of their problem: reliance on others.

United have looked after their own business and that is why they have amassed 47 points.

I’m backing the Whites to come away from the soulless athletics track with at least a point.

Prediction: West Ham United 2 Leeds United 2.

ANDY RHODES

With the season one game from its conclusion, Leeds United and Daniel Farke have a chance to sign off in style.

The campaign has been a success for the Whites, with survival secured a while ago and the team reaching an FA Cup semi-final at Wembley.

Meanwhile, for Leeds’ opponents this weekend, the season has been a disaster.

Farke’s side will relegate West Ham United if they avoid defeat, and Leeds are unbeaten in eight league games.

The Whites are almost playing with a bare-bones squad after a number of injuries have mounted up, but their recent results show the strength of the team.

A win on the final day could push Leeds as high as 11th place which would be a massive achievement for the club.

After this game, attention will soon turn to the summer, whether Farke is staying, and who the club will target in the transfer window.

Before then, there’s the small matter of a relegation battle to decide. Fortunately, Leeds are not in it.

Prediction: West Ham United 1 Leeds United 1.

NEIL GREWER

This game brings to a close an excellent season and one of overachieved expectation for Leeds United. However there is real jeopardy in this game, but not for Leeds.

A win for United relegates West Ham and potentially moves Leeds to 12th in the table whilst a draw should confirm 14th place and maintain the unbeaten run, whilst also relegating the Hammers.

A defeat may result in Spurs relegation. What a brilliant situation Leeds are in.

Working against Leeds however is the increasing injury list and I suspect there may be five or six of the first XI missing – the worst scenario of the season but at the best possible time.

However, Leeds have been resilient and competed in most games and I see no reason for change.

There will be an opportunity for Seb Bornauw, Sean Longstaff, Dan James and Willy Gnonto to shine.

West Ham have to win this game and at some point will have to go for it. I expect Leeds to be sensible, remain in the game and wait to seize upon West Ham’s nerves and tension.

Prediction: West Ham United 1 Leeds United 2.

DAVID WATKINS

A game that once looked like a potential last-day showdown between the Hammers and us to see who stayed up and who went down is now only crucial for West Ham.

Had Spurs won or drawn at Chelsea this week, then the Hammers would already be down, but Spurs’ defeat at Stamford Bridge means everything is still to play for, with the final-day results at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and London Stadium set to determine which of the two London clubs bites the dust.

I am sure Daniel Farke will go all-out to win the game, not only to try to get Leeds further up the table for the extra dosh but also to maintain the integrity of the competition, especially since we took a point at Spurs only a couple of weeks ago. There is also the possibility of finishing on 50 points, which has a nice ring to it!

So, I’m sure Leeds will give it everything, but there is no denying the incentive to win will be far greater for West Ham, and it looks as though we could be without yet more players through injury following the early exits of Anton Stach and Brenden Aaronson against Brighton.

For that reason, I fear we may lose this one.

Prediction: West Ham 2 Leeds United 0… but West Ham still to go down with Spurs likely to beat Everton.

So the builders are in and things will change off the field and probably on it too. Football holds little sentiment and a few that walked around the pitch may not play in that famous stadium again.

Sad, but if you want to be successful, next season has to be a stepping stone to further days and nights we’ve witnessed in 2025/26.

Leeds finish their season in London, once a place we hated going but we’ve only lost at Arsenal, Fulham and Wembley so maybe that ‘monkey’ is hopefully off our back.

West Ham, though, have one last chance to save their Premier League tenure if they beat Leeds and Spurs fail to get a point against Everton.

With all the injuries we have you could even see some of the youngsters given a start.

Willy Gnonto could hopefully, finally get a start after an impressive second half performance at right wing back.

I expect the likeable winger to leave in the summer. Joel Piroe, another who’s expected to leave, may also start.

Sean Longstaff will come in to replace Anton Stach in midfield.

I’ve got a feeling that unfortunately United will lose. It may be enough to keep West Ham in the top league, I’m kind of hoping that it does.

Prediction: West Ham United 2 Leeds United 1.
