Leeds United will learn their Wolves lessons before clash with 'flying' Aston Villa says Stuart Dallas

Leeds United will take whatever lessons were to be learned from Monday’s defeat into a Friday night game to be relished.

Stuart Dallas was unable to put his finger on what exactly went wrong in the second half of Leeds’ 1-0 defeat to Wolves that heralded the return of Premier League football after the international break.

But he was adamant that Leeds would get to the bottom of it before Friday’s visit to a Villa side that, despite only avoiding relegation on the final day of last season, boast a 100 per cent record this time around in the top-flight.

The Whites dominated Wolves in the first half at Elland Road but went in at the break goalless. The second half saw Wolves enjoy much more success going forward and they eventually found a winner, albeit via a significant deflection, from the boot of Raul Jimenez.

“It’s hard to tell straight after the game, we’ve got to analyse it and watch it back,” said Dallas.

“Certainly it felt like we didn’t have as much control in the second half as what we did in the first half. We’ll analyse it, break it down and see what we can do better, see what we can work on and take it forward into Villa on Friday.”

With Marcelo Bielsa in charge, there’s little doubt that what transpired on Monday will be dissected, with lessons drawn and worked on in training at Thorp Arch.

Leeds will be keen to put the Wolves game to bed quickly, however, with such an in-form opposition awaiting them at Villa Park.

Dean Smith’s side have beaten Sheffield United, Fulham, Liverpool and Leicester, conceding just two goals which both came in their 7-2 mauling of champions Liverpool.

“You learn in every game, no matter what level you’re playing at, you continue to learn and we can take a lot from [the defeat],” said Dallas.

“We’re five games into the season now, we came into this game looking to win it and unfortunately couldn’t do that.

“Now we’ve got to bounce back on Friday against a team flying high in the table, full of confidence and playing really well.”
