Leeds United vs Norwich City: Daniel Farke's injuries, team news and transfers update in press conference

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke faces the media once again this afternoon in what is a quick turnaround from Sunday lunchtime's win over Preston North End, before facing old employers Norwich City on Wednesday night.

Leeds are back at Elland Road in just over 24 hours, which means we return to Thorp Arch to hear from manager Daniel Farke as the Whites look to keep their momentum from the weekend.

United have begun 2024 with four consecutive victories in the Championship and FA Cup, but have never started a calendar year with five straight wins, which would be some feat given the rigours of this year's campaign.

Leeds host the Canaries on Wednesday evening which pits two former Premier League coaches against each other in Farke and David Wagner. Both have occupied the managerial hotseat at Carrow Road, albeit with varying success, and will be keen to get one over on the other for vastly different reasons in midweek.

Follow what Farke has to say this afternoon while he conducts his pre-match media duties. Updates here from 1:30pm.

Daniel Farke's pre-match press conference LIVE: Leeds boss on Norwich, injuries, team news and transfers

No one of our key players will leave. We are firm on this stance.

Yes obviously I was there more than four years and have great memories and will always be grateful. That's quite normal. It was my first return to Carrow Road a few month ago. This topic is done, we have another home game we want to stay unbeaten and help our point tally. It's a well-run club with people at the helm of the club, it'll be a pleasure to see familiar faces, I'm not sure if there will be time. A bit special but it's not about me.

Farke on incoming business

Same topic. Everyone is aware we have a few positions, we are not training with too many numbers but the advantage of a tight group is everyone is needed. We know perhaps there are one or two areas we could strengthen the squad, we are rather a bit more careful to bring the right character in. It has to be the full package: potential, affordable and personality has to fit the group and even more to Leeds United. If we find the whole package in the right position we will do something.

Farke on Gnonto contract

We want to keep our best players with highest potential. It's definitely one of our main areas, when we have players when we're convinced, that we are highly tempted to do something but we will only speak about business when it's done.

Farke on Mateo Joseph contract

Congratulations to Mateo, pretty good news for him and us as well. It's a sign of what we want to build here. We knew that we had many good years and the last couple of years was difficult and trying to build something new. We gave Ethan Ampadu - already on the way to developing - a long-term contract, Archie Gray, Mateo Joseph, because we believe these guys are the future of Leeds United. We want to work more with players who are running up the hill rather than down the hill. We want players with potential and to develop them. Obviously we want players with experience around them. We are highly motivated to keep them, to use them for us or create value from a business point of view. With Mateo we are convinced he has lots of potential.

It's always a bit tricky when it's windy to be entirely accurate with your passing. No complaints.

All players who were in contention last game are also available next game. Some progress with Willy Gnonto, he has not joined in team training so far. We try to bring him first time back into team training, he was sadly out for last 12 days, we'll make a late decision, definitely not for the starting line-up. I expect him latest to be back for the FA Cup game on Saturday. Apart from this no other news, Pascal Struijk still out.

Five minutes to Farke

We're in position. Farke speaking in just a few minutes.

Training done. Time to warm up and dry off before Farke joins us in the media suite in just under 30 minutes.

Stay tuned.

The Canaries are up to eighth in the Championship table after beating fellow play-off candidates Hull City and West Bromwich Albion in recent weeks.

Just two defeats in their last 12 outings across all competitions - including score-draws against Southampton and Ipswich Town in that time.
