Leeds United v Wolves: press conference RECAP

Last updated: Friday, 16 October, 2020, 12:48

  • Leeds take on Wolves in Monday 8pm kick-off.
  • Marcelo Bielsa facing the media at 12.15pm.

That’s it from Bielsa

Pablo fit, Raphinha set to be involved against Wolves. Cooper a doubt. Llorente out which we already knew. No new signings today. Lots of nice words about Douglas.

More on League One and League Two

Saying that the leagues are the nucleus and the heart of football in this country but that is a view of his and he says perhaps he is wrong. Says you cannot forget the history of where you came from.

Will Raphinha be involved on Monday?

I think so, yes, it is difficult to say three days from the game as in three days many things can happen but if the game was today he would be in the group. His adaptation has been instant. For this I thank Victor Orta because he is a player who is able to adapt very easily to the style of play that we have.

Too many international games?

The international teams are very important on a global scale, this is something that we have to protect and help because in this sense the players don’t play for money, they play for the love of their country. Whether there are more or les games that is something we can discus but for me the national teams have to be discussed.

How much stronger are you now?

This will be measured throughout the whole year, how much we have improved, up until now Koch has been a continued presence in our team and Rodrigo is slowly increasing the minutes in which he contributes. And Llorente and Raphinha have yet to play and in a league a long and demanding as the Premier League everyone will get the chance to show their qualities and contribute and this is also for the young players who arrived the Academy in Pascal, Poveda, Davis who have all been through the under-23s and also in the case of Tyler Roberts who is a young player - between those five young players and the four new signings those players will be able to cover the absences of Berardi, Forshaw, Douglas and White.

The window as a whole

I am totally satisfied, very grateful with the work Victor Orta has done also the group that helps him. And I also value the contribution of the club, the president has been able to bring in the players we needed.

On no midfielder after Cuisance fell through

In attacking midfield Pablo, Tyler Roberts, Rodrigo can play there and in the defensive midfield position Phillips, Koch and Pascal can play there and eventually Llorente as well and in the box to box midfield position Klich, Dallas, Shackleton and Alioski can play there and these are the options I see.

On Phillips’ displays for England

I think that Phillips is a versatile player and he can play in different styles, in the national tam he plays in the centre of the pitch and in our team he plays in the same position and the things that he picks up whilst he plays for England will surely make him better.

On Wolves again - shows what can be done?

This shows or talks very well about the job they have done in these two seasons.
