United's City loanee winger Harrison is forbidden from playing against his parent club so Alioski comes into the side to start on the left flank as record signing Rodrigo again has to make do with a place on the bench.

With playmaker Pablo Hernandez still out as he recovers from a groin strain, Tyler Roberts keeps his place in the no 10 role.

There is also a first place on the Whites bench for Spanish international summer recruit Diego Llorente who is on the bench along with fellow centre-back option Pascal Struijk as skipper Liam Cooper again partners Robin Koch at the heart of the defence.

Manchester City's new £65m centre-back recruit Ruben Dias comes straight into the side despite having only signed on Tuesday with the Portugal international partnering Aymeric Laporte at centre-back.

Laporte missed City's first two league games of the season having self isolated after testing positive for coronavirus but now makes his first league start of the campaign along with fellow summer recruit Ferran Torres.
