However, a twist in the tale means that Tuchel is still likely to be on the sidelines for this weekend’s clash against the Whites in West Yorkshire.

Tuchel and Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte clashed at the end of last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge after a heavy handshake which caused a melee and led to both coaches being shown a red card.

Tuchel and Conte have since both accepted an FA improper conduct charge and Tuchel has received a one-game touchline ban and been fined £35,000.

Conte has escaped a ban and handed a smaller fine of £15,000.

However, the sanctions are subject to appeal and Tuchel’s one-match touchline ban has been suspended temporarily pending the independent Regulatory Commission’s written reasons for its decisions that will be made in due course.

The FA had still not delivered their verdict by the time Whites boss Jesse Marsch sat down with the media at Thorp Arch on Friday afternoon for his pre-match press conference.

Asked about the prospect of Tuchel still being on the sidelines, Marsh said: “Are they saying he might be able to be on the bench?

"If you get a red card, you're out of the match.

"I would be disappointed if they allowed him to be on the bench. There's a simple rule in football, whether it's soccer, football, I think if you get a red card, you can't play the next match.”
