Leeds United’s under-21s return to action with the visit of Derby County’s youngsters today, for a game which presents a big chance for the Whites.

Scott Gardner’s side have not played since falling to a 4-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest last weekend, a result which left them bottom of the 26-team Premier League Two table after 16 games played. Leeds, though, now have the chance to climb the ladder with this afternoon’s visit of Derby who themselves are second-bottom, just two points ahead of the Whites who also have a game in hand.

Leeds have games in hand on the six teams above them and victory against Derby would also take Gardner’s side level on points with third-bottom Leicester City who are three points ahead of United but also having played two games more. Here, we will bring you team news as soon as it lands followed by updates and analysis from the 1pm kick-off at Thorp Arch which presents the fourth-last league game of the season for the young Whites.

Good stuff from Leeds

71: Plenty of possession again as the corner is cleared. Dealing with these conditions well and now into the final 20 minutes.

72: For Lopata-White, looks a decent young centre-back, only 18. Got his goal and he has been solid at the back with plenty of good tackles, blocks and clearances.

Two more Derby subs

74: Running out of time and ideas somewhat.

More good play by Lopata-White

76: Very neat control under pressure, with a turn and decent pass out to the left, he has been the one to really impress in this half, definitely - and his first half wasn’t bad either - a fine goal.

77: Coleman on for Chambers

78: Almost a hat-trick for Snowdon, gets into the box and rising shot tipped over the bar

79: Lopata-White again - up from a Leeds corner, ball cleared but Leeds come again and he sends a shot just wide from the middle of the box

81: Allen on the edge of the box, tries to poke a through ball through but blocked and then he fouls.

82: By Cresswell to clear a dangerous corner under pressure

84: Between Crew and Coleman but Lopata-White cleans up at the back to force a corner. He’d be pushing for man of the match here despite Snowdon’s brace.
