Leeds United U21s 0-7 Jong PSV highlights: Young Whites comprehensively beaten and knocked out of cup

Leeds United host PSV Eindhoven's 'Jong' side at the LNER Community Stadium in York this evening as they look to secure a place in the knockout round of the Premier League International Cup.

Leeds' final fixture of this season's PL International Cup group stage could be their toughest yet as they take on reigning champions PSV Eindhoven tonight. The Dutch side are level on points with United, narrowly ahead of Leeds in Group A by the virtue of favourable goal difference and will be keen to defend their title in the Last Eight of the competition, having beaten Crystal Palace in the 2022/23 final.

Whoever wins this evening's game is guaranteed a place in the quarter final while a score-draw is likely to be enough for the visitors. Leeds, on the other hand, must either beat PSV, or draw having also scored at least three goals in the match, in order to go through to the next round as one of the best third place sides.

Groups A, B and C are made up of eight teams - four English PL2 sides and four foreign invitee clubs. Only the top two progress automatically to the quarters, while the two best teams finishing third in their respective groups also make it through. English clubs do not play each other, only foreign teams, and vice versa, meaning the group stage concludes once each participant has played four times.

Leeds and PSV have six points from three games, trailing Hertha Berlin with seven points from four matches and group winners Wolverhampton Wanderers who have picked up ten points.

Permutations, build-up, team news, analysis and live match coverage here throughout the evening. Kick-off in York is at 7pm.

Leeds United U21 vs PSV Eindhoven U21 LIVE

31' Bars played in down the left by a neat Simons flick and he's away. Leeds disorganised at the counter and Abed steams into the middle of the box as a free man. Bars plays it across as Leeds commit defenders to the ball-carrier and Abed slots in. Big test, this.

Keep it tight, lads

29' Leeds outclassed by this PSV side at the moment. Oppegard bursts forward from central defence once again, gets to the byline down the left and finds Simons with a cutback. Christy down well to save it in the United goal.

GOAL. PSV extend their lead. 2-0

26' Leeds played through and Tim van den Heuvel heads in from close range. Jevon Simons' cross deflects off the underside of James Debayo's leg and bounces up kindly for the run of Van den Heuvel who had been involved in build-up. Mountain to climb for the home side, now.

23' Oppegard gets forward and in behind Sutcliffe on the left flank. Cutback is deflected away for a PSV corner.

17' Snowdon involved again on that left-hand side. One-two btwn Perkins & Thomas, the latter on the run across the face of the PSV box. Finds Snowdon who cutely bends one towards the far corner. Just wide. Well-spotted, just couldn't execute.

First chance for the home side

12' Snowdon does well at the byline, chipping the ball over Abed's leg and sending one into the middle. Takes a deflection and PSV 'keeper Schiks has to tip over the crossbar from a narrow angle. First chance Leeds have had.

4' Nassoh opens the scoring. Christy clears the ball upfield but it falls straight at the feet of the PSV skipper. He drives forward, finds Abed to his right and drifts into space to receive the ball back. His first attempt is saved by Christy, but he recovers possession inside the penalty area, Leeds 'keeper tries to charge down, but Nassoh weaves his way to the right to find a shooting opportunity before lashing into the unguarded net.
