Watch the moment Leeds United transfer target Jean-Matteo Bahoya became the Bundesliga's fastest ever player

Leeds United are look set to sign the jet-heeled Eintracht Frankfurt winger this evening.

Below is the moment potential Leeds United deadline day transfer Jean-Matteo Bahoya broke the Bundesliga's sprint speed record.

Leeds are closing in on a late deal for the Eintracht Frankfurt star, with reports suggesting a deal has been agreed between the two clubs. Bahoya is expected to join on loan initially with the whites committing to an obligation to buy worth €30million (£25.7m).

The 21-year-old is still quite raw but viewed as an incredibly exciting young prospect, known best for his blistering pace. Famously while playing for Frankfurt in a 3-1 win over Bochum in March 2025, he clocked the fastest sprint speed in Bundesliga history after topping out at 23.09mph.

For reference, that is about as fast as Usain Bolt’s average speed of 23.35mph during his 100m world-record sprint at the 2009 World Championships. He recorded that speed at just 19 years old too.

That is equivalent to just over 37km/h, a speed only three players in Premier League history have also managed. They are Tottenham Hotspur’s Micky Van de Ven, former Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker and Jackson Tchatchoua of Wolves.

Bahoya also scored the second of Frankfurt’s three goals in that game at Bochum. The scorer of their opener was former Leeds man Rasmus Kristensen.

Leeds will hope to see Bahoya stretch his legs at Elland Road this season, with Leeds pushing to get a deal over the line tonight. The summer transfer window shuts at 11pm tonight but clubs can submit a deal sheet if necessary.

A deal sheet provides clubs with a two-hour grace period after the 11pm deadline to finalise any paperwork of a potential transfer. All parties involved in a transfer must sign and submit the deal sheet to the Premier League, confirming an agreement has been reached.

At that point, involved clubs are given another two hours to conclude the final details and make the transfer official. Deal sheets cannot be submitted to the Premier League until after 9pm on deadline day, with 1am the latest at which all paperwork needs to be completed.
