Turkish media Leeds United claims - and warning from Fenerbache boss over Euros star

Turkish journalist Talha Arslan has claimed that Whites head coach Marcelo Bielsa wants director of football Victor Orta to sign Blackburn Rovers forward Ben Brereton, Huesca left back Javi Galan and Fenerbache centre-back Attila Szalai.

That is a very bold claim although Arslan is a Fenerbache reporter which would go some way to explaining the Szalai claim.

Szalai, 23, has been part of the Hungary squad that were cruelly knocked out of the Euros last night and the six-foot-four defender played the full duration of the match against Germany which ended in a 2-2 draw.

He has been an ever-present for Hungary in the tournament and seems sure to be in demand this summer.

However, whether Leeds do actually have any interest or otherwise, Fenerbahce president Ali Koc has fired a warning to any sides looking to sign the defender.

He is quoted by Turkish broadcaster aSPOR as saying: “I wouldn’t even talk about under €20m for Attila Szalai.”

West Ham are another club who have been linked with a move but the Leeds links are odd with the club targeting a left back, midfielder and a winger as their first team priorities.

The Ben Brereton links:

Chilean outlet RedGol are claiming that Leeds have an interest in Blackburn Rovers forward and Chilean international Ben Brereton who is currently with Chile in the Copa America.

Brereton has chosen to play for Chile due to his mother’s Chilean heritage and RedGol claim Leeds have scouts keeping an eye on the 22-year-old who they say has been on Marcelo Bielsa’s radar since Leeds faced Rovers in the Championship.

Leeds play Blackburn in a pre-season friendly this summer and Brereton has been playing out wide for Rovers.

Gary Neville’s team for Germany clash - do you agree?

This will go down well on the south coast...
