A deep dive in Leeds United's financial situation as Whites 'exceeded expectations'

A bit of morning fun! Fantastic...

Paul Robinson has his say on Leeds United

Paul Robinson has said that Leeds are a sleeping giant after Gary Neville slammed the huge £97m disparity in TV money between them and Norwich.

Neville had used Leeds to highlight the unacceptable gulf between monies received for TV rights in the Championship and the Premier League.

A gap of £97m exists between the top of the EFL and the bottom of the Premier League.

After hearing about Neville’s comments, Robinson said Leeds “should be rewarded financially” for the number of times they’re on TV," to  MOT Leeds News

“The Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has gone on the record before about his disappointment at how often Leeds are on TV and the lack of financial gain Championship clubs get compared to the Premier League,” Robinson said.

“The words sleeping giant fit Leeds perfectly, it’s exactly what they are.

“You can see the number of times they have to play on Saturday mornings, Friday nights, Sunday afternoons, Sunday mornings… whenever, all for the call of TV.

“Leeds should be rewarded financially for that. But it shows you the Premier League is the holy grail not just for TV rights but for sponsorship.

“It shows the gulf in TV rights. For Leeds, it’s a fine balance of financially structuring a plan to get to the Premier League and sustaining it long enough to get there. Otherwise, you’re back to the bare bones and restructuring.”

Noel Whelan has claimed Leeds United would be taking a risk in making Jean-Kevin Augustin their record signing, but maintains he could yet prove to be a "real gem". (Football Insider)

Cyle Larin, who is currently on loan at Belgian side SV Zulte Waregem, has been linked with a £5.2m Elland Road switch by Turkish outlet Fanatik,

Is this why Leeds United have yet to agree a takeover with the OSI group?

Speculation has linked Andrea Radrizzani and Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Qatar Sports Investment over a takeover deal for Leeds United.

The Financial Times first linked the Whites to QSI last May 2019 - as Marcelo Bielsa's side crashed out of the play-offs to Derby County.

However, the story has not gone anywhere....

It is suspected a deal has not been agreed between the two parties because Leeds remain in the Championship.

Radrizzani likely knows that the Whites share price increases if the club reach Premier League.

Earlier this month, Radrizzani’s latest on QSI was: "These are rumours that have been ongoing for more than a year now.

“What is true is we have a great relationship on a personal level, there's a desire to do something together maybe even in football, but there's nothing concrete at this time.”
