Leeds United transfer news: Marcelo Bielsa eyes 'three or four quality players', Whites trio tipped to leave in summer 'exodus'

Leeds United host Crystal Palace this evening with the opportunity to move into the top half of the Premier League table.

Three points for Marcelo Bielsa’s men will put them above Arsenal and into 10th position – opening up a 17-point gap over the relegation places.

Even the most pessimistic Whites fans can begin to envisage a second consecutive season in the top-flight ahead of what is tipped to be another busy summer for Victor Orta and co.

And with the fresh investment from the San Francisco 49ers, former striker Noel Whelan is setting his sights on the upcoming transfer window, tipping “three or four quality players” to arrive at Elland Road.

Speaking to Football Insider, Whelan said: “We don’t know what’s going to happen when it comes to the end of the season, we’re going to have that balloon payment from the Premier League for staying there.

“I think there’ll be three to four quality signings, I really do. I think we missed out.

“We were going to give a big signing to (Michael) Cuisance, Rodrigo De Paul was going to cost a lot of money as well so I don’t think we’re afraid of going into the summer market and spending quite a bit of money to improve a team and taking them forward .

“I don’t expect two to come in; I expect three to four quality players to come in and add to the three or four quality players that we bought this season, who have been hindered by injuries.”

In a separate interview with the same publication however, Whelan also believes there could be an “exodus of players” – including Pablo Hernandez, Tyler Roberts and Gjanni Alioski.

“I think there’s going to be an exodus of players that are either too old now or they’ve done their job for Leeds United up until the Premier League and they’re seen as not Premier League players anymore or surplus to requirements,” Whelan said.

“We need better, if we’ve got any aspirations of moving forward and becoming a bigger, better, stronger, more powerful team to compete against those boys up at the top, then we need a different class and calibre of player.

He added: “Pablo could be one, Tyler Roberts, I think, could be another, Alioski I think will be another one so there’s going to be big changes and it’s got to be.

“You can’t be sentimental about players who have done a job, they’ve done a job, served their purpose but we want to be a bigger, better club and that means bigger, better players.”
