'Thankful' Tarik Muharemovic reflects on Leeds United start with candid admission as 15-game run to end
The £34m summer transfer has played every available Leeds United minute this season.
Leeds United defender Tarik Muharemovic will get a well-earned rest through international suspension but in the aftermath of a brilliant Leeds United win, he just wants to keep going.
Muharemovic was outstanding on Saturday lunchtime as Leeds beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 at Elland Road through substitute Noah Okafor. The 23-year-old met countless long balls and crosses, his 14 defensive contributions the most of any Whites player according to FotMob.
Saturday was the 11th consecutive game in which Muharemovic played every possible minute for Leeds since joining from Sassuolo, the centre-back also playing all four games in the last international break for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Yeah, very happy,” Muharemovic told the YEP following Saturday’s victory. “I think a well deserved three points and important points for us all, and to go like this into the national team is I think the best way.
“Obviously, I think every player wants to play every minute. As I said, I'm really thankful and just happy that I got this chance from the club, from the boss, from the whole staff.
“I just wanted to show everyone what I can do to help the team and obviously want to play every minute. As I said, I'm really thankful and just happy that I got this chance from the club, from the boss, from the whole staff.”
Muharemovic was inevitably called up to the Bosnia squad for the upcoming international break but his run of consecutive appearances will end. The defender picked up two yellow cards during the last round of Nations League matches and will miss a meeting with Gabriel Gudmundsson’s Sweden through suspension.
“I just wanted to show everyone what I can do to help the team and obviously to fight for our goals,” he added. “I am very happy that I have played so far every minute, obviously I still have a lot to improve.
“Now I've got a game off because of two yellow cards. So maybe the first game I don't play an international game, but it's okay.”
