One area where the Whites have been tipped to bolster is the left-back position, and they've been heavily-linked with a move for Ajax sensation Nicolas Tagliafico, who is also believed to be attracting attention for Manchester United and Manchester City.

With an expected asking price of around £13m, the Argentina international could be a bargain signing for the Whites, and football pundit Alan Hutton has talked up Leeds' chances of sealing the deal.

Speaking to Football Insider, the ex-Scotland international contended: “He’s a big-name player, isn’t he? I read about it when it first kind of came up.

“It’s a position for me that Leeds need to go and sort out. Obviously, the boys who have filled in have done well and that’s no slight on them. But to really progress in such a tough league, you need the right players in the right positions.

“I think going for the likes of Tagliafico, who’s done it at a high level, that’s the standard where Leeds see themselves at now.”

The 28-year-old is arguably in his prime, and his invaluable experience of Champions League football and international tournaments would be a welcome addition to the Leeds set-up.

Tagliafico began his career with Argentinean side Banfield, and followed it with a spell at Independiente that saw him capture the interest of Ajax and seal a move to the Dutch giants in 2018.
