Leeds United team news vs Man Utd as 100-game milestone reached & injury doubt misses out

Daniel Farke has confirmed his Leeds United starting-XI for today’s Premier League clash with Manchester United at Elland Road.

The Leeds United starting-XI for today’s Premier League clash against Manchester United has been confirmed with Daniel Farke going unchanged once again.

The Whites return to Elland Road looking to record consecutive wins over their old rivals for the first time since the 1971/72 campaign. Farke’s side lost 2-1 at Arsenal last time out but went toe-to-toe with the Premier League champions for large parts of that game.

They face a Manchester United side winless in five and off the back of a 2-0 Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid in midweek. Michael Carrick’s outfit are currently 14th in the Premier League.

Farke warned Leeds to expect to face a wounded animal today and has now confirmed his team to walk out at kick-off. And for the fifth game in a row the Whites boss has named an unchanged side.

James Trafford keeps his place in goal and will be desperate to atone for last weekend’s error for Riccardo Calafiori’s goal at the Emirates. In front of him, Nico Elvedi is again selected ahead of Jaka Bijol, flanked by James Justin on the right and Tarik Muharemovic on the left.

Farke has stuck with a midfield three, Ao Tanaka joining Anton Stach and Ethan Ampadu in the middle of the park. Today is the latter’s 100th game as captain and he’s the youngest to reach that milestone since Billy Bremner.

Jayden Bogle and Gabriel Gudmundsson make up the wing-back spots, with April’s Old Trafford hero Noah Okafor in the free role behind striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Daniel James misses out having been a doubt due to a back injury ahead of Arsenal.

Victory over Manchester United could send Leeds as high as fifth by end of play today. Defeat could see them drop down to 10th.

Leeds team in full: Trafford; Justin, Elvedi, Muharemovic; Bogle, Ampadu, Stach, Tanaka, Gudmundsson; Okafor, Calvert-Lewin

Subs: Zetterer, Bard, Bijol, Gruev, Longstaff, Aaronson, Wilson, Bahoya, Nmecha
