Leeds United defender declares new season goals aim with declaration about challenge

A Leeds United defender has declared his new season goals aim.

New Whites defender Tarik Muharemovic has declared his clear intent to also help Leeds United at the opposite end of the pitch upon his move to Elland Road.

Muharemovic will now be tasked with improving a defence that conceded 56 goals from 38 league games last season but a back line that also kept clean sheets in four of the club's last nine games en route to top-flight survival and a 14th-placed finish.

Six-foot-four Muharemovic, though, has clear designs to also help United's goals tally at the other end of the pitch, fresh from his stellar 2025-26 Serie A campaign with Sassuolo for whom he netted twice and also bagged one assist.

“Corners, maybe even sometimes trying to shoot”

Asked by LUTV if that was another part of his game perhaps, Muharemovic said: "Yes, I scored two goals.

"Obviously I love to score goals so I am trying always - corners, maybe even sometimes trying to shoot. But I love to score."

The new Leeds defender also says he is relishing the challenge of now settling into a new country as part of a career that has already taken him far and wide.

Muharemovic added: "I was born in Slovenia, lived my whole life in Austria and then I moved the first time out of home was Italy.

"I lived there for five years. But I love it. That's my job and I am really happy to be now in England.”
