"They are" -Trai Hume's Leeds United admission with frank Sunderland assessment and must
Sunderland defender Trai Hume on Leeds United and Sunday’s Premier League visit of the Whites to the Stadium of Light.
Sunderland defender Trai Hume has made a Leeds United admission ahead of Sunday’s clash at the Stadium of Light with a frank Black Cats assessment and must.
Sunderland are approaching Sunday’s visit of Daniel Farke’s Whites sat bottom of the Premier League table after seven games played, the Black Cats already six points and 13 places behind Leeds who begin the weekend in seventh place.
Speaking to Sunderland’s official website, Hume admitted that his men would be in for a tough test against an in-form Leeds side as he acknowledged that his team were not reaching the standards of last season that led to an excellent seventh-placed finish.
The Northern Ireland defender said Sunderland would get back to that level as he saluted the club’s supporters but Hume said his men now needed to give them something to cheer in Sunday’s clash at the Stadium of Light.
“It will be a tough game against Leeds,” admitted Hume.
“They are in very good form and we know the challenge ahead of us.”
“We have played them a lot of times over the past three years.
“They are in very good form and we know the challenge ahead of us.”
Hume added: “We haven’t been at the standards we set last season, but we are all in agreement that we need to improve.
“It is about being hungry. We cannot take our foot off the gas at this level.
“We know the quality and experience we have in the changing room, and we are going to get back to that level.
“The supporters have been amazing and we know they will be right behind us.
But we need to give them something to cheer on.”
