Leeds United are back on the road this weekend when they travel to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland. The Whites came from a goal down to draw 1-1 at home to Manchester United last time out with Dominic Calvert-Lewin cancelling out Bryan Mbeumo’s first-half opener.
That point leaves Leeds seventh in the Premier League table but their Sunday afternoon hosts have endured a more difficult start to the campaign. Sunderland lost 2-0 at previously winless Bournemouth last weekend with results elsewhere plunging them into the relegation zone.
That defeat was compounded by the sending off of a key Black Cats defender who will now miss Sunday’s meeting with Leeds. And ahead of that game, the YEP rounds up the latest injury and team news from both teams.

7. OUT: Mateo Joseph
Joseph has been out of action since April after suffering an ACL injury while on loan at RCD Mallorca. The young striker's path to recovery has been slow and steady and he isn't expected to play a part in Daniel Farke's plans this season regardless. | Rafa Babot/Getty Images

8. OUT: Joe Rodon
Come Sunday it will have been eight weeks out for Rodon due to a hamstring injury but a return at Sunderland still feels unlikely. Last week, Farke said the Welshman was making 'good progress' but hadn't been in team training with Leeds not needing to rush him back, given they look defensively sound at the minute.

9. DOUBT: Daniel James
Speedy winger James has now missed two games with a back injury, although he was in contention to return at home to former club Manchester United on Sunday. As it turned out, he wasn't in the squad but has been involved in team training, making a return this weekend very much possible.
