Leeds United moved a point further clear of the Premier League dropzone through Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Sunderland - and a Whites rise now features in Opta’s new predicted final table and points.
Leeds moved pulled six points clear of the bottom three with last weekend’s excellent 4-1 win at home to Crystal Palace which also saw Daniel Farke’s side leapfrog Nottingham Forest by a point into 16th place.
Fourth-bottom Forest and third-bottom West Ham were then unable to make any fresh inroads from their Saturday games, Forest suffering a 2-1 defeat at home to Manchester City and West Ham beaten by a late Raul Jimenez goal in a 1-0 reverse to visiting Fulham.
That all provided Leeds with the opportunity to kick further clear in Sunday afternoon’s clash at Sunderland and Farke’s side recovered from going down 1-0 down and losing Joe Rodin to injury to leave with a 1-1 draw.
The point has pushed the Whites seven points clear of the dropzone and now two points ahead of Forest.
One game short of the exact halfway point of the season, Leeds now find themselves just two points behind 15th-placed Bournemouth who were hammered 4-1 at Brentford and only three adrift of 14th-placed Newcastle United who lost 1-0 at Manchester United.
It’s a rather grimmer tale for second-bottom Burnley and marooned basement side Wolves, Burnley a point further behind third-bottom West Ham yet still ten points clear of Wolves who remain stuck on just two points.
With Game Week 18 now done with, data experts Opta have now produced their new predicted final Premier League table and points which features a Leeds rise but Bournemouth, Sunderland, Everton and Forest drops.
Here, in reverse order, is the full new rundown.
