Leeds United striker hunt latest, Emil Bohinen emerges as player of interest, Ian Poveda move still possible

As for the vacancy left by Jack Clarke’s return to parent club Tottenham, the YEP understands Norwegian youngster Emil Bohinen has emerged as a player of interest.

The 20-year-old, currently at Eliteserien club Stabæk, can play in midfield or out wide and is a player who has caught Leeds’ interest.

Bohinen, son of former Nottingham Forest and Norway midfielder Lars, has previously been linked with Sheffield United.

A move for Manchester City wide player Ian Poveda is still possible however, despite interest in the 19-year-old from clubs overseas. Poveda, out of contract in the summer, has met with Leeds and is thought to be keen on Elland Road as a destination.

Head coach Marcelo Bielsa has turned to winger Jordan Stevens to come off the bench late in their last two games and, after bringing him on at QPR on Saturday, said the 19-year-old as one who will give Leeds a ‘good answer in the future.’

But United do still want to sign a wide player, along with their number one priority - a replacement for Eddie Nketiah, having been without a second senior striker since Nketiah went back to Arsenal at the start of this month’s transfer window.

To that end director of football Victor Orta is working on a number of possibilities and Leeds are likely to have to go down the loan to buy route, with a loan fee and an obligation to pay a lump sum in the summer.

Leeds have been linked with a number of Premier League forwards during the window and the YEP understands a number of their preferred targets are operating in the top flight.

Meanwhile the expected confirmation of Italian teenage goalkeeper Elia Caprile's arrival is still subject to FA ratification.
