That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim the Whites saw an offer turned down last summer after the Bundesliga club refused to budge on their £36million asking price.

But while Marcelo Bielsa’s side fell short in their pursuit, their top-flight rivals could launch a fresh move to sign the 23-year-old.

Indeed, scouts from Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton will cast an eye over Bailey in the club’s Europa League tie with Slavia Prague tonight.

Any potential move for Bailey however is likely to come at an increased price to what Leeds were quoted following the player’s excellent start to the season.
