Leeds United fell to a first league loss of the year as Saturday’s Championship clash at Coventry City ended in a 2-1 defeat – but how did we rate the performances?
Leeds fell behind in the ninth minute after failing to deal with a Coventry corner from which Ellis Simms headed the Sky Blues ahead. The Whites then conceded a second goal four minutes into the second half as a rapid Coventry counter attack ended with Haji Wright converting from the middle of the box.
Daniel Farke’s side finally pulled a goal back in the 76th minute through Joel Piroe who then squandered a glorious chance to draw the Whites level deep in stoppage time. But the contest ultimately ended in a 2-1 defeat for Leeds who now find themselves out of the division’s automatic promotion places with five games left.

5 - A welcome return to the side after injury but the Bulgarian endured a difficult time of things. A bit better after the break before being subbed. Photo: Barrington Coombs
6 - A miserable afternoon for the Dutch star who was continually booed by Coventry's fans. Nothing came off for the winger but he was still United's biggest threat of the starters, making several good runs to the byline. Photo: Ed Sykes
5 - Saved himself from an even lower mark with his fine work for the goal, after which he briefly came to life and threatened but poor overall and often gave the ball away. Photo: Alex Burstow
4 - Got the nod to start at no 9 again as Mateo Joseph again had to settle for a place on the bench but Bamford could offer no real impact up tops. Started dropping very deep after the break which was a bit better but then subbed for Joseph. Photo: Alex Burstow
7 - Another impressive performance from the bench, making a fine run to start the move for the goal and generally a nuisance for Coventry's defenders. Surely a case for starting him or at the very least giving him more minutes. Photo: Ryan Pierse
