A round-up of the latest Leeds United news ahead of the summer transfer window

The summer transfer window doesn't open until June 14 but the rumour mill is already in full swing. Leeds United have been linked with a host of new signings, while they have also seen seen several star men linked away from the club.

The likes of Archie Gray, Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville are all said to be attracting summer interest and if the reports are to be believed, Leeds could have a battle on their hands to keep Daniel Farke's squad intact. The German will be keen to add a number of faces to his group over the coming weeks and months, though, and with that in mind, the Yorkshire Evening News bring you a round-up of the latest Leeds news.

Leeds United 'eye Stuttgart man'

Leeds United are one of a host of clubs said to be keen on Stuttgart winger Silas this summer. The 25-year-old has played a key role for Stuttgart, who defied the odds to finish second in the Bundesliga this season ahead of Bayern Munich, and seemingly his performances have not gone unnoticed.

According to Bild, Leeds are keen on taking Silas to Elland Road, but they face competition from the likes of Villarreal, Fulham, Auxerre and Lens. The report claims the winger would be available for between €8-10 million as Stuttgart look to add Champions League quality players to their squad.

Silas, a DR Congo international of 14 caps, has been with Stuttgart since 2019, joining the club while they were still in the second tier of German football. His seven goals helped the club to promotion during his first season and he has been a regular on the scoresheet in the top flight in the four seasons since, racking up 21 Bundesliga goals.

Of course, given Leeds' well-documented financial situation, such a price tag might prove to be a challenge to meet for the Whites, but Silas may well be a player Farke knows plenty about from his time in the Bundesliga.

Robinson's Rodon message

Former Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur man Paul Robinson insists the Whites must do all they can to secure Rodon permanently this summer. Rodon spent the season on loan at Elland Road, where he caught the eye with his consistent and dependable performances in the heart of Farke's defence.

The Whites' failure to win promotion promises to complicate their pursuit of the Wales international, who is said to be on the radar of several Premier League clubs too. Robinson, though, believes its a deal Leeds need to do with the former goalkeeper likening Rodon's situation to Ben White's after his loan at Leeds.

“I think they need to get him on a permanent – he’s been outstanding this season with Ethan Ampadu at centre-half," Robinson told MOT Leeds News. "If Liam Cooper moves on, it’s an area they’ll need to recruit in anyway, but it’s whether they can actually get a deal done.

“He’s had that good a season that I think there’ll be a number of suitors for him. We know he’s not going to be integrated back into the Tottenham squad; Ange Postecoglou is moving his team forward, so there’s an opportunity to buy the player.

“I suspect Leeds won’t be the only team at the table because of the season he’s had. He’s played really well so I suspect some Premier League teams will be looking at him. It’ll come down to his personal preference, in a similar way to Ben White.

“Leeds tried their hardest to sign him. Now look at what he’s gone on to achieve at Arsenal. I think, with Rodon, in a similar way they’ve got it all on to make the deal permanent, and I think they should.”
