Premier League make VAR changes

Leeds United will experience thicker lines to decide VAR offside calls upon their second season in the Premier League.

Leeds were among the clubs to endure dismay with VAR calls during the 2020-21 season, notably when Whites striker Patrick Bamford was judged offside by his arm when scoring what looked like an equalising goal in November’s clash at Crystal Palace.

But the Professional Game Match Officials Limited group is now set to introduce thicker lines to judge offside decisions next season in a hope to give the benefit back to the attacking team.

The move was agreed at the Premier League s AGM on Thursday which lasted eight hours.

Pablo’s next move?

The president of a second tier side in Spain says there is the possibility to sign former Leeds United star Pablo Hernandez.

Hernandez is leaving Leeds this summer after a magical five years with the Whites and Spanish publication Marca have linked the 36-year-old with a move to FC Cartagena in his native Spain.

The Murcia side finished the 2020-21 Segunda Division season in 16th place and club president Paco Belmonte has confirmed that his side are looking to sign the outgoing Whites playmaker.

“Sometimes there are signings that you say: how did you get here?” said Belmonte to efesista.es.

“Well, a name has arrived that until now we were not evaluating, but I remembered it the other day, and suddenly they wrote to me about that possibility, and the name is here (Pablo Hernandez).

“He is free and wants to play in Spain in an exciting project.”
