Today it emerged that Augustin was being assessed by the Leeds medical staff over fresh injury concerns that could keep him out of the final games.

But in better news for Whites fans, Tyler Roberts has caught the eye of team-mates and staff with his physical condition and form in training.

Leeds will resume the Championship on June 21 at Cardiff City, the first of their nine remaining fixtures and according to midfielder Adam Forshaw, Roberts could play an integral part.

“Tyler Roberts looks in great shape," he revealed, on the Leeds That podcast.

“I spoke to Stu Dallas and I’d seen Tyler getting into his car and he looked lean and well. Stu said Tyler has been so sharp in training.

“He’s got some ability Tyler. He’s been unfortunate with injuries but he could play a key part couldn’t he in the last nine games."

Roberts shone in the 4-0 battering of Hull City, Leeds' penultimate game before the season was suspended by the coronavirus pandemic.

He capped a flowing team move with a tidy finish before leaping to head home a Mateusz Klich cross to grab his second of the game, as a second half substitute.

The 21-year-old has struggled with injuries since his move to Elland Road from West Brom, but Forshaw believes the youngster is more acclimatised to life under head coach Marcelo Bielsa.

“He’s a nice footballer. I think now he’s getting fully accustomed to the regime, the demands of the sessions and the manager wants you to play.

“Hopefully I think his body is ready for it now.”

Bielsa has stuck with Bamford for the vast majority of the season in the lone striker role but admitted after Roberts’ pair of goals at Hull City, that he had been given food for thought.

Bamford started against Huddersfield and netted the second goal in the 2-0 win, his 13th of the season.
