Melvin Bard, Willy Gnonto, Largie Ramazani latest, Mateus Mane stance: Leeds United transfer state of play
The Leeds United transfer deadline day state of play.
Willy Gnonto could be on course for a quick Leeds United return as part of a transfer deadline day in which any Whites move for another attacker would be a late opportunistic swoop.
Leeds are set to sign versatile French left back Melvin Bard as the club’s sixth first team signing of the summer, the 25-year-old poised to join the Whites on a season-long loan from Nice with an option to buy.
Bard landed in the country on Tuesday lunchtime, the defender heading for a Leeds medical as United get set to sign the defender for a €1m loan fee with a €5m option to buy.
As per reports from L’Equipe overnight, the deal has already been agreed.
As Bard prepared to fly in to the country, Whites winger Willy Gnonto headed out of it on Monday ahead of a possible loan move to Fiorentina who would then have an option to buy.
Gnonto was given permission to travel by Leeds and landed in Italy on Monday, pictures then emerging on Monday evening of the winger wearing Fiorentina training gear.
But Gnonto will only be allowed to join Fiorentina if they sign another attacker and, as it stands, any move for another forward would be a late swoop on a loan deal.
United tried to sign Ukraine international winger Mykhailo Mudryk on loan from Chelsea but Mudryk is heading to Tottenham.
Leeds remain interested in bringing in another attacker instead but the YEP understands that the club are now waiting to see if an option becomes available as deadline day nears a close.
It was claimed at the weekend that Leeds were interested in Wolves winger Matheus Mane but the YEP understands that United are not for the 18-year-old winger.
In the event that United don’t sign another attacking player, it is expected that Gnonto would then return to Leeds.
Fellow winger Largie Ramazani, though, is definitely heading for an Elland Road exit, the Belgian set to join Championship side Burnley.
The YEP understands that Ramazani will join the Clarets on a season-long loan but with the move expected to be made permanent at the end of the campaign.
