Leeds United transfers: Whites battle Premier League rivals for Romain Perraud as Marcelo Bielsa blocks Pablo Hernandez exit

Marcelo Bielsa has poured cold water over the Whites’ chances of recruiting new players today, so will instead fully focus on Wednesday’s Premier League tie with Everton.

But working away in the background is director of football Victor Orta – and reports in France state he’s got his sights set on a left-back.

According to Le10Sport, Leeds are rivalling Southampton for Brest left-back Romain Perraud after making contact with his representatives.

The timing of the Whites’ interest is unusual timing, given the 23-year-old recently signed a new contract with the Ligue 1 outfit until 2025.

However, neither Leeds or the Saints are deterred, with a summer move for the former France under-20s international potentially in the offing.

Bielsa has been left a little light in the left-back area this season with Gjanni Alioksi and Stuart Dallas often called upon.

Perraud, an attacking full-back with three goals and five assists to his name this term, would certainly add some much-needed competition.

Meanwhile, there is likely to be some transfer activity at Elland Road today – though nothing significant in that respect.

Rafa Mujica is expected to end his loan spell at Real Oviedo after playing just 50 minutes since his summer switch.

Former club Las Palmas have been heavily linked with the Spanish forward as his next move remains unconfirmed.

Should he find a new club, the 22-year-old will follow Jordan Stevens, Robbie Gotts and Ryan Edmondson out the loan exit door.

Castellon were hoping to tempt Pablo Hernandez into returning to the Spanish club this month but Leeds are not willing to lose him, reports The Athletic.
