The Spanish centre-half scored a spectacular leveller to make it 2-2 and keep fifth-placed Roma a point ahead of Atalanta, who also drew 2-2 with AC Milan on Sunday. The goal’s other consequence was to narrow the gap to fourth-placed Bologna to three points after their 1-0 Saturday defeat by runaway Serie A leaders Inter Milan. Llorente was delighted to hit the net but still had mixed feelings at the final whistle. He told DAZN: “I’m happy with the goal but I think we didn’t have a good performance today. We have to work better as a team and individually. Yellow cards were a problem for us tonight. Mancini, Paredes, Huijsen, it became difficult to play. In the end we got a good point out of this match, an important point for the team. Svilar? He gave a great performance, with a goalkeeper like that we can do great things. I think with the kind of personality that we have we can reach Champions League football. We have to prepare every match as if it were the last match of the season.”
Llorente is one of two Leeds United loanees at Roma, after joining Rasmus Kristensen in the Italian capital for the entire 2023/24 season, and one of a huge number of Whites currently plying their trade with temporary or permanent new employers across England and further afield in Europe. Here’s the latest on their progress as the season nears its final stages and a summer that could and should bring some permanent exits.
7. Joel Robles
The goalkeeper joined Al-Qadsiah in the Saudi second tier in the summer, despite an invite to train with Leeds, and has played every minute of their 25 league games. His side sit top of the First Division by nine points. He has 13 clean sheets to his name. Ex-Wigan man Max Power moved to Al-Qadsiah too but hasn't been in a squad since November when he had surgery. Robbie Fowler was sacked as boss in October and replaced by Michel Gonzalez. 8. Brenden Aaronson
The little American has started just six times in the Bundesliga this season and just once in the Champions League, but he is playing regularly as a substitute for Union Berlin. In February he scored his only goal of the season, against Hoffenheim, and is yet to claim an assist. It has not been the season that Leeds hoped it would be, particularly in light of Aaronson's transfer value and the sum paid to bring him to Elland Road. 9. Marc Roca
Roca was another to hightail it out of Elland Road for a loan move and he, at least, has featured heavily for Real Betis this season with 22 LaLiga starts and six Europa League starts. In the league they sit seventh, a point behind Real Sociedad, but they exited the Europa League in the group stage after two defeats by Rangers and one by Sparta Prague. Roca has four goals and three assists from deep-lying midfied. He recently revealed he can go on loan again next season if Leeds don't go up. 10. Max Wober
The defender has started 20 Bundesliga games for loan club Borussia Mönchengladbach, playing predominantly at centre-back and thrice at left-back. He's scored once and set up three for the team sitting 12th in the table. Earlier this season he said: "Leeds are doing very well. They play really cool football, it’s fun to watch. If they keep going like this, everything looks like they’ll be promoted, then the whole thing isn’t really in my hands.” Pic: Christian Kaspar-Bartke/Getty Images Photo: Christian Kaspar-Bartke
11. Jack Harrison
The winger is on loan at Everton for the season but is going through another relegation fight. Everton are 16th, four points clear of the drop zone but 18th-placed Luton have a game in hand over them. Winless in 11, the Toffees have not been able to rely on Harrison's creativity. 12. Tyler Adams
The midfielder was desperate to return immediately to the top flight but his £23m move to Bournemouth has not yet brought any top flight football. Hamstring injury hell has kept him out of the entire league programme. He's finally back now and returned to the bench, at least, at the weekend having played in a development squad win over Colchester United last week. To date he has 20 minutes of EFL Cup action to his name as a Cherrys player. Pic: Steve Bardens/Getty Images Photo: Steve Bardens
