Every word Leeds United boss Daniel Farke said on Gabriel Gudmundsson return, transfer latest & Brentford

Leeds United host Brentford at Elland Road this weekend with manager Daniel Farke to hold his pre-game press conference this afternoon.

Leeds United welcome Brentford to Elland Road on Sunday afternoon and ahead of their home league opener, Daniel Farke will hold his pre-game press conference today.

The Whites have enjoyed a perfect start to their 2026/27 campaign so far with two wins from two, both of which have come at the City Ground. Daniel Farke’s side beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 in the Premier League last weekend before a 2-0 Carabao Cup victory on Tuesday night.

Both of those victories were earned in the absence of some key first-team players, most notably Gabriel Gudmundsson who has been out with a muscle injury picked up in pre-season. Farke suggested on Monday the Swede could return to team training at some point this week so expect an update on his situation this afternoon.

The same is true of Willy Gnonto, who suffered a hamstring injury against Manchester United in Dublin and is also yet to feature this season. Farke again hinted at a potential return to training this week but midfielder Ilia Gruev - out since April with a knee injury - is likely to miss out.

This afternoon will be our final pre-game press conference before the transfer window shuts on Tuesday night - of course, we’ll hear from Farke after full-time too. Expect the Leeds boss to be quizzed on any recent developments but as always, don’t expect him to speak too openly about specific recruitment needs.

Weekend opponents Brentford will provide a serious early test for Leeds, with Keith Andrews’ side looking electric against an admittedly abject Spurs. Both sides have enjoyed stable summers - a rarity across the Premier League - and Farke might be given the chance to share his thoughts on how that’s helped.

And of course, there will be a chance for the Leeds boss to speak about returning to Elland Road for the first time this season. The stadium will be packed out and a great atmosphere is guaranteed, something he will have surely missed over the summer.

Farke’s pre-Brentford press conference is due to take place at 1.30pm. Stay tuned for live updates...
