In line with Premier League and government guidelines the Spanish international forward has to isolate away from the team and he misses tonight's game against Leicester City at Elland Road.

Leeds' record signing arrived in the summer from Spanish side Valencia, for a sum of around £27m and has looked increasingly impressive in his early Premier League season outings for the Whites. He was particularly dangerous in the 3-0 win over Aston Villa in Leeds' last fixture and appeared to have settled quickly into life at Leeds and adapted well to Marcelo Bielsa's style of football.

But a club statement tonight confirmed that the 29-year-old is out of action due to COVID-19 guidance.

"Rodrigo will miss tonight’s game having been in close contact with a person who has subsequently tested positive for coronavirus," said a spokesperson.

"In line with Premier League and Government guidelines he has to isolate away from the team."

The club have given no indication of when Rodrigo's period of isolation can come to an end. Leeds take on Crystal Palace in London on Monday.
