Elland Road enjoyed one of its best nights in recent memory on Wednesday as Leeds United beat Club World Cup champions Chelsea 3-1. Goals from Jaka Bijol, Ao Tanaka and Dominic Calvert-Lewin ensured the Whites were rewarded for an outstanding performance with all three points.
Leeds were direct and aggressive from kick-off, with challenges reminiscent of this fixture’s historical clashes getting Elland Road on its feet. An early Bijol header helped, as did Tanaka’s rifled finish and Calvert-Lewin’s second-half tap-in. A special mention to Ethan Ampadu as well, whose tough tackling fired up the crowd.
Many of the 36,000-plus inside Elland Road stayed after the full-time whistle to celebrate with those on the pitch who performed so well. Take a look below to reflect on the night in pictures.
