Sky Sports have reported that Leeds were unsuccessful with an initial £18.5m bid for their former Brighton loanee defender with an improved £22m bid also rejected.

During a highly impressive season-long loan spell, White played every single minute of every single United league game during the 2019-20 Championship campaign as Marcelo Bielsa's Whites romped to promotion and finished ten points clear of second-placed West Brom.

But White's performances have put him on the radar of a host of Premier League big guns with champions Liverpool among those closely monitoring the 22-year-old centre-back's progress.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur were also among the clubs tracking White's progress and reports have suggested that Chelsea have now identified the centre-back as a possible option to help improve their defence.

White's contract at Brighton runs until June 2022 with the defender having signed a one-year extension to his deal last summer before heading to Leeds for his season-long loan spell.

Sky have also reported that White has since rejected two new contract offers.
