German media have reported that Eintracht Trier and SV Dörbach are both unhappy due to the non-payment of compensation due to them after Koch's move from SC Freiburg to Elland Road in the summer.

SV Dörbach are reportedly owed 32,000 euros, while Eintracht, where Koch spent six years, are said to be expecting more than 290,000 euros.

“You feel a bit disrespectful. It wears down and annoys you that as a small amateur club you almost have to sue for what you are entitled to,” Simon Berg, chairman of SV Dörbach, told Trierischer Volksfreund.Eintracht Trier spokesperson Alsons Jochem added: "The idea of solidarity is always popular in football. The fact that we are still waiting for the money shows that the work of small clubs is not valued."

An open letter from Jochem appeared on lokalo.de, addressed to the German footballing authorities, criticised the level of training compensation for amateur and lower league clubs and claimed the first intallment of money from Leeds failed to arrive in October. Jochem went on to say that Eintracht were forced to issue a legal threat.

But the YEP understands Leeds initially attempted to resolve the matter back in November and now, after a number of unspecified hold ups, expect it to be sorted within days.

Koch, a German national team defender, made a £13m move to Leeds in August and made his debut in the season opener at Liverpool. He picked up a knee injury in that game but was able to play on for club and country, before suffering further damage in a collision early in the Whites' visit to Chelsea.

He needed surgery on the knee and anticipates returning by spring.
