The Spaniard made a number of vital interventions to earn his 12th clean sheet of the season in the Whites' 2-0 win over Huddersfield Town.

Goalkeeping was one of the positions over which a question mark lingered after last season in the summer, given Casilla's costly error in the play-off semi-final against Derby.

Despite speculation to the contrary, Casilla was adamant he wanted to stay and Bielsa backed the 33-year-old to be his number one, Bailey Peacock-Farrell departing instead.

It has been a solid start to the season for the former Real Madrid stopper, with few mistakes to speak of.

Bielsa admitted on Saturday that he would rather not see his goalkeeper in action quite as often as he was against the Terriers, but he is getting what he needs from Casilla.

"We wish he had to resolve fewer dangerous moments for us but [on Saturday] he had a great impact in the result," said the Argentine.

"[There are] two important things, don't make mistakes and try to make an impact with the saves he makes.

"In this season he is filling those two needs in our games."

The strength of Casilla's performances has underlined what a big miss he would be for Leeds, were the FA to find him guilty of the allegations of racism he's currently facing.

Leeds believe on-loan French youngster Illan Meslier can step up from the Under 23s however, if necessary.
