The Premier League is once again testing players and club staff members twice weekly and has revealed the results of the latest round of testing.

Between Monday, December 28 and Thursday, December 31 a total of 1,311 players and staff members were tested an 28 new positive tests were returned.

And between Friday, January 1 and Sunday, January 3 there were 12 new positives from the 984 players and club staff who had tests. Those who tested positive must self-isolate for 10 days.

Three fixtures fell by the wayside due to positive tests at two clubs.

But the Premier League remains confident in its testing program and matchday safety protocols and there are currently no plans to introduce a 'circuit break' and suspend the season.

A spokesperson said: "With low numbers of positive tests across the overwhelming majority of clubs, the League continues to have confidence in its COVID-19 protocols, fully backed by the Government, to enable fixtures to be played as scheduled."
