Leeds United accept FA charge following title celebrations at Pride Park following Derby County clash

Leeds United have accepted a charge from the Football Association following the club's title-winning celebrations at Pride Park last month.

The Whites travelled to Derby County in the Championship having wrapped up the league title without kicking a ball ahead of the Sunday afternoon fixture.

Defeat for fellow promotion chasers West Brom ensured a return to the top flight for Leeds before Brentford later lost to hand United the second division trophy.

Marcelo Bielsa's side ended up 3-1 winners over the Rams and celebrated on pitch post-match despite the game being played behind closed doors.

The Leeds squad could be seen using pyrotechnics which has now led to a charge from the governing body.

An FA statement read: "Leeds United FC has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20 following its EFL Championship fixture against Derby County FC on 19 July 2020.

"It is alleged that the club failed to ensure its players and/or officials conducted themselves in an orderly fashion as pyrotechnic devices were used following the conclusion of the fixture.

"The club has until 3 September 2020 to provide a response."

The Whites moved to accept the charge without contest immediately and are expected to be handed a fine as a result.
