Leeds United academy duo nominated for Premier League 2 Player of the Season award after stunning campaign
Leeds United duo Charlie Cresswell and Sam Greenwood have been nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Season award.
The Whites enjoyed a stellar campaign under head coach Mark Jackson's guidance at Thorp Arch.
United's Under-23s outfit earned the Division 2 league title and promotion at the first time of asking as a category one academy.
Leeds will now play in the top tier of development football next term, having gone unbeaten all season at home to claim the crown by a impressive 11-point margin.
Cresswell - who stepped up to play his first full season at Under-23s level - captained the side throughout the campaign.
The 18-year-old centre-back made 21 appearances, helping Leeds keep eight clean sheets whilst scoring two goals.
Greenwood, meanwhile, arrived in West Yorkshire last summer from Arsenal and hit the ground running as he claimed the PL2 Player of the Month award for September.
The forward bagged 12 goals in 18 appearances in the league and was also handed his senior bow against Crawley Town in the FA Cup by senior boss Marcelo Bielsa.
United's Thorp Arch duo have been nominated for the yearly gong alongside six other rising academy stars across the two divisions.
Aston Villa pair Louie Barry and Aaron Ramsey have been shortlisted as have Manchester City's Liam Delap and Cole Palmer.
Blackburn's Connor McBride and Manchester United's Shola Shoretire complete the nominees.
