Leeds set their stall out early as they dominated from kick-off.

Liam Cooper fired wide as the Whites enjoyed a flurry of corners with the Robins penned back in the final third.

United finally broke the deadlock in the 16th minute as the hosts saw a number of shots blocked inside the box.

Mateusz Klich finally saw his effort fall into the path of Luke Ayling who swung his leg at the loose ball which flew into the back of the net.

Bielsa's men also added another shortly after but were denied by the offside flag.

Leeds again had City's defence jumping in front of shots before Helder Costa cut inside and forced Daniel Bentley into a strong save.

The ball fell to Stuart Dallas who saw his shot deflected onto the crossbar with Patrick Bamford on hand to turn home the rebound only for it to be ruled out.

Andreas Weimann was replaced by Callum O'Dowda as Lee Johnson altered the visitors tactics calling a team huddle in the process.

Costa again tested Bentley from distance as the half came to a close before Jamie Paterson finally worked something on goal for the visitors with Kiko Casilla making an easy save.

The second half began with a penalty claim for City with Johnson incensed referee Tim Robinson failed to point to the spot.

Goalscorer Ayling dived to halt a cross inside the area which the Robins claimed had hit his leading arm but the protests were waved away.

United again asserted their domination in the following minutes as they missed a host of chances to double the advantage.

Costa cut the ball back to the penalty spot before Harrison drilled a low ball to the back post that was just out of the winger's reach.

The wide man then capitalised on quick thinking from a Cooper free-kick as he rounded Bentley before the stopper dived to palm away the opportunity.

Bamford then fired straight at the goalkeeper as the Whites opened up the City backline at will.

As the game passed into the final 10 minutes Nahki Wells spurned a rare opening as he drilled into the side netting with Elland Road holding its breath.

Substitute Jean-Kevin Augustin repeated the feat in injury-time as Jamie Shackleton saw late minutes but it was United who held on for all three points and their first win in four league outings.
