Leeds bossed the first-half with nine shots at goal compared to the visiting side's two with record signing Rodrigo having one of the best opportunities but seeing his half-volley from inside the area saved.

Helder Costa also blazed a good chance wide after a beautiful move involving Stuart Dallas, Mateusz Klich, Rodrigo and Patrick Bamford who also had the ball in the net but was well offside when heading home.

Wolves' best chance came on the stroke of half-time but Whites keeper Illan Meslier produced a strong save to keep out a thunderous drive from Daniel Podence.

Wolves then looked to have taken the lead shortly after the break with a thunderous volley from Romain Saiss but a VAR check led to the effort being ruled out for offside.

Meslier then produced a fine save to tip a powerful shot from Podence behind for a corner as Wolves began the second half looking like a different side to the one seen before the break.

The visitors then bagged the only goal of the game in the 70th minute but with a huge slice of good fortune as Jimenez cut inside and unleashed an effort that took a huge deflection off Kalvin Phillips to beat Meslier.

Leeds rallied and after the introduction of Ian Poveda and Pablo Hernandez, Hernandez saw his shot deflected just over the bar.

Summer recruit Raphinha then came on for his Whites debut and a Raphinha cross immediately set up Poveda who failed to get a proper connection with his attempt.

But Leeds were unable to find an equaliser and only strong blocks from Kalvin Phillips and Luke Ayling kept out strikes from Ruben Neves in added time.
