An early goal that had an element of good fortune about it separated the sides but Leeds were below par and unable to break a stubborn defence down.
1. Illan Meslier -7
A spectator for the most part. Could do little with the goal. Distribution was fine, on the rare occasions he had to get involved.
2. Luke Ayling - 6
Solid defensively. Couldn't produce the quality Leeds needed at the other end when he got forward.
3. Stuart Dallas - 6
Worked hard. Tried to get on the ball when he moved to midfield to get Leeds moving and while some of it was tidy, Villa were too well organised.
4. Liam Cooper - 7
Defended well against Ollie Watkins. Physical, strong in the air. Leeds' problems were at the other end of the pitch.
5. Diego Llorente - 7
Showed physicality and strength, some nice passing in the first half in particular. A little too theatrical after being fouled.
6. Pascal Struijk - 6
Some nice touches and passes in the first half without dictating. Faded in influence and Leeds needed more in midfield so he was replaced.
