8am: A British consortium bidding to buy a majority stake in Leeds is hoping to be granted a period of exclusivity to conclude a deal after talks resumed with owners Gulf Finance House earlier this week, the Yorkshire Post understands.

12.30pm: 1.25pm: Yorkshire Evening Post’s Phil Hay tweets: Statement coming from the Farnan Group. They’re still trying to get involved but finding it hard to get their foot in the door.

1.20pm: ITV says controversial owner of Italian club Cagliari, Massimo Cellino, is the forerunner in the takeover.

1.25pm: Phil Hay tweets: Multiple sources telling me now that GFH are in the process of completing a sale to the Cellinos. Looks like this is happening.

1.40pm: Phil Hay tweets: “Really dignified press conference from McDermott. Says he’s focused on tomorrow’s game, privileged to manage lufc and still under contract.”

1.45pm: Phil Hay tweets: “McDermott was asked if he thought tomorrow’s game might be his last. Said you never know in management but plans to “really enjoy it”.

2pm: Tutto Cagliari.net reports: “Massimo Cellino has bought Leeds United.
