Leeds United's mixed Reading record - can Marcelo Bielsa make it back-to-back victories at the Madejski?

The last five meetings at the Madejski Stadium have seen a mixed bag of results for the two sides, with Leeds coming out with two wins, two draws and one loss.

Ahead of tomorrow night’s game, Reading will be looking to bounce back after their 1-0 defeat away at Brentford, while Leeds will be seeking to continue their winning streak.

Here’s a look at the last five encounters at Reading...

Reading 0 Leeds United 3 (Championship) – Tuesday, March 12, 2019

When the two sides met in the middle of last season it was two goals from Pablo Hernandez and one from Mateusz Klich that saw Leeds seal the victory to put them back at the top of Championship.

After just 14 minutes Klich put the away side ahead and it was only eight minutes later that Hernandez doubled their lead. Just before half-time the Spaniard scored a second to seal the victory for Leeds.

Reading 2 Leeds United 2 (Championship) – Saturday, March 10, 2018

An own goal from Eunan O'Kane gave the home side a vital point and Leeds another setback in their hopes to achieve the Championship play-offs.

Reading went ahead early on through Jon Dadi Bodvarsson and it wasn't until just before half-time that Pontus Jansson levelled for Leeds. After the break the away team went ahead in the 56th minute thanks to a Pablo Hernandez strike, but at the other end two minutes later O'Kane's own goal aw the struggling Reading side grab a point.

United went on to finish 13th in the league and Reading finished just four points from relegation, finishing 20th.

Reading 1 Leeds United 0 (Championship) – Saturday, April 1, 2017

With Reading dominating possession at 58 per cent, a 21st goal from Yann Kermorgant secured the win for the home side who later went on to finish third in the table, ultimately losing to Huddersfield on penalties in the Championship play-off final.

Leeds just missed out on securing a play-off spot, finishing seventh in the table.

Reading 0 Leeds United 0 (Championship) – Sunday, August 16, 2015

The second game of this season saw a goalless draw at the Madejski Stadium, giving Reading their first point of the season but the side were still without a home win since March.

After half-time both sides came close through Chris Wood for Leeds and Orlando Sa for Reading, but only managed to find the side-netting.

Leeds managed to secure the victory in the reverse fixture but both teams later went on to finish mid-table with Leeds at 13th and Reading at 17th.

Reading 0 Leeds United 2 (Championship) – Tuesday, February 10, 2015

Both sides had four shots on target throughout the match but it was Leeds who made them count through two second-half goals. Luke Murphy gave the away team the advantage from 35 yards and this lead was later doubled by Sam Byram in the final minutes of the game.

This gave Leeds three wins in four putting them five points clear from the bottom three as they battled to avoid relegation.

The two teams went on to finish in the second half of the table with Leeds 15th and Reading ending the season at 19th.
