United’s players were involved in a first-half confrontation with referee Robert Madeley following his award of a penalty to Sheffield Wednesday.

Defender Sol Bamba was booked for dissent amid strong protests against the decision for a challenge by Sam Byram on Lloyd Isgrove.

Leeds have until Monday to respond to the charge. The club are likely to face a fine if found guilty.
