Jurgen Klopp is playing a role in Leeds United manager uncertainty

A former Premier League title winner could play a role in deciding the fate of Leeds United manager Daniel Farke.

Speculation over Daniel Farke’s future at Leeds United has ramped up in recent weeks after the Whites slipped into the Premier League relegation zone.

Despite claiming wins against the likes of Everton, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United, a run of four consecutive defeats has taken Farke’s men into the bottom three and they will face a major battle to get on the right side of the dotted line as they face home games with Liverpool and Chelsea over the coming days.

Talk of parting ways with Farke was aired with regularity across the media during the summer months - although there was little indication from the Elland Road hierarchy that such a big call could come to fruition. However, that talk has increased with the poor run of form in recent weeks and there has been a suggestion the Whites could look to utilise their links with Red Bull to seek a replacement for the former Norwich City boss.

Links with highly-rated coach Zsolt Low, who has worked within the Red Bull setup at RB Leipzig and RB Salzburg could mean former Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp playing a role in identifying Farke’s successor after he was appointed as Red Bull’s ‘Head of Global Soccer’ earlier this year. The German explained his role with the Red Bull setup when his appointment was confirmed in January and stressed he would be working with several clubs within their stable.

The Premier League title winner told the Red Bull website: "I want people to see us playing and without reading the name on the shirt, they should feel it – they should know (we’re Red Bull). What I want to do is develop football – develop football for our clubs, for our players and for our talents, but for football itself as well. Somebody has to take care of that. So yes, helping football and in the same moment being successful with Red Bull in the long term is super appealing to me."

What has Daniel Farke said about his relationship with Jurgen Klopp?

Speaking to Sky Germany, the Whites boss said: "I knew that I could always call him 24 hours a day. Now we have a very strong partner through this connection with Red Bull and we are happy that we can also use this network. The only difference is that if I have something, you can even book it as working time when I call him. Jürgen knows very well that if you work at the level as a trainer, you don't have time to have a chat over a coffee or chat about anything, there is no time for that.

“I know that if I have something where I need his advice, his help or any hint, then I can always call him. The only difference is that it officially runs as working time, but actually the exchange is not at all different than three or four years ago, when it was not yet this connection. It is also different, because of course the "classic" RB clubs also have the philosophy of playing football in their own way. Leeds is an independent club, RB is a strong partner and a strong investor. That's a difference from what is perhaps in New York or Salzburg or Leipzig."
