Adams shared the sporting pride award with recently retired former Leeds Rhinos rugby league star Jamie-Jones Buchanan as former team-mate Rob Burrow looked on as a guest of honour in his brave battle against motor neurone disease.

Now in their 17th year, well over 750 guests attended the glitzy awards ceremony at first direct arena as BBC Look North's Tanya Arnold once again hosted proceedings and handed out the awards.
