Kombouare, 57, succeeded Raymond Domenech at the Ligue 1 club a few weeks ago and has quickly decided the 23-year-old is not a part of his first-team plans.

It completes a miserable 12 months for the Frenchman, who flopped during his disastrous loan move to Leeds United in January 2020.

Augustin moved to Nantes permanently in October, despite an ongoing dispute between Leeds and RB Leipzig after he was loaned to Elland Road with an £18million obligation to buy as part of the deal.

The striker, however, played just 48 minutes in total and when the season was suspended due to Covid-19, he was allowed to leave the Whites.

Augustin failed to get himself up to the required physical standard to be considered for Marcelo Bielsa's side. Leeds evidently believed he still belonged to RB Leipzig.

The dispute between Leeds and the Bundesliga outfit was referred to FIFA in December.

The former France under-21s international hasn’t featured in Nantes’ matchday squad since November and has subsequently played just 33 minutes during the 2020/21 campaign.

And according to Ouest-France, Augustin will sit out the remainder of the season in Nantes’ reserves, who compete in the fourth tier of French football.

Augustin is not alone in his exile from the senior team as he is also joined by Thomas Basila and Bridge Ndilu.

Nantes currently sit 17th in Ligue 1 as they battle to avoid relegation.
