Marcelo Bielsa's Whites blitzed Allardyce's second-bottom Baggies 5-0 in Tuesday night's Premier League clash at The Hawthorns as a Romaine Sawyers own goal was followed by strikes from Gjanni Alioski, Jack Harrison, Rodrigo and Raphinha.

The heavy defeat for West Brom came just two days after Allardyce's side had taken a 1-1 draw at champions Liverpool.

Leeds, meanwhile, followed their Baggies romp with a 3-0 reverse at Jose Mourinho's high-flying Tottenham Hotspur four days later and Allardyce was an interested observer with his side's mauling against the Whites in mind.

West Brom's heavy reverse against Leeds was then followed by Saturday evening's hosting of a rejuvenated Arsenal outfit who also ran riot in a 4-0 victory.

Asked before the Gunners clash what the reaction had been like in the build up to the game after the result against Leeds, Allardyce told BT Sport: "Obviously not very good on the result and you have to say that Leeds, on the day, are physically so much better than any team in the Premier League and that showed on the night.

"I think the effort that we put in at Liverpool, I’m not saying we would have got a result against Leeds but it took its toll on us because we put so much effort in at Liverpool and only having two days to recover I think told on us.

"Leeds are the fittest side in the league, everybody knows that, and they hit some absolutely unbelievable goals.

"I actually watched Leeds today against Tottenham, and I wish they would have played like that against us and we might have had a chance, but they didn’t."
