'I can't see Marcelo Bielsa being kind' - former Leeds United man reacts to Crawley Town FA Cup defeat

Ex-Whites forward Jermaine Beckford says he can't see Marcelo Bielsa being kind to his players following Leeds United's FA Cup defeat at Crawley Town.

The Argentine head coach saw his side fall to an embarrassing third round exit to League Two opposition on Sunday afternoon.

Leeds made seven changes for the tie but were still able to call on a number of senior players for the contest in West Sussex.

United, though, were well beaten by John Yems' outfit, falling to a 3-0 defeat at Broadfield stadium in front of the television cameras.

Goals from Nick Tsaroulla, Ashley Nadesan and Jordan Tunnicliffe lifted the minnows to victory over their Premier League foes and sealed another day to forget in the competition for Leeds.

Beckford - who was speaking to BBC Radio 5Live post-match - believes that Bielsa won't take the loss lightly, with more work to be done at the club's training ground for his squad in the aftermath of a humiliating FA Cup exit.

"It's not the fact that Leeds lost, it is the manner in which they lost," the former United striker said.

"They were pretty toothless in the final third and that's not something that we're used to seeing. We are used to seeing Leeds peppering the opposition goal but we didn't see that today.

"Leeds almost ran out of options and ideas once they got to within 22 yards of the goal.

"I can't see Marcelo Bielsa being too kind to these guys - he'll have them in training tomorrow morning and everything they did wrong today they will be making right."

He added: "Fair play to Crawley - they were absolutely brilliant from the first whistle to the final whistle.

"They took the game to Leeds and made it a bit more physical than Leeds would have wanted. Every single Crawley player was absolutely brilliant."
