Whites head coach Marcelo Bielsa changed the entire XI that started Saturday evening's Premier League opener at Liverpool with 17-year-old Charlie Cresswell making his first ever appearance for the Whites and fellow youngster Oliver Casey handed his first start.

Youngsters such as Leif Davis, Mateusz Bogusz and Ian Poveda were also handed rare outings from the off but Tigers boss McCann said his side were still facing a strong Whites side featuring the likes of Spanish international and club record signing Rodrigo from the start in addition to experienced pros such as Barry Douglas and Gjanni Alioski.

"When I put the team up on the board I have just seen a team that has played a lot of games for Leeds, particularly the full back (Barry) Douglas and in the midfield area they had young players but players that had played games for Leeds with Alioski and people like that and Rodrigo so I knew they were strong.

"But we just had to make sure that were right from minute one and I thought we were and I think it was a good performance to get the result."

Asked if he felt the changes made Leeds look disjointed and all at sea, McCann said: "Not really because they work together every single day and they all know what Marcelo wants to do.

"It was a bit like us, we made six changes tonight and some boys didn't even travel.

"We all work, everyone works to a system and everyone works to how we want to play."
